The Washington Monument from the Lincoln Memorial steps.

The Inner Harbor view from the Baltimore Aquarium. These are our precious friends, Dave and Dottie who live in Baltimore and treated us to a day at the aquarium. What fun! Thanks Mama Dottie and Daddy Dave!

This is the World War Two Memorial which was quite impressive.

We were given the red carpet treatment by Senator Burr's office and this was us, sitting on his couch in his office. He wasn't in that day, but we had a great time any way!

Greg and I at the Lincoln Memorial

J and A and A outside of the Capital building.

This was after our tour of the Washington Monument, you can see the Lincoln Memorial in the background.

I love this memorial. It is sooo much bigger than you ever imagine. He is just really cool!

This was a reallllly cool tour. Fort McHenry in Maryland. I have more pictures and I will upload more, but this is a good start. It really was a great place to visit. This flag is neat because it only has 15 stars. If you ever get a chance to go here, you need to do it!!

Love my kids! This was in front of Abe again, they are so cute! Love them!!

We had a great trip this past week to Washington D.C. I quit telling you all when we were leaving to go somewhere because it is stupid. I may as well invite strangers in my house while we are gone. So, I am relying on you faithful prayer warriors to know that if I haven't posted in awhile, you probably need to pray! We learned a lot about the history of our nation and the boys were really in heaven! I have some more pictures that I promise I will add soon. We are tired but it was worth every minute of our fun filled trip! Thanks to Hillcrest Baptist we had a wonderful mission home to stay in for free. That made this trip a lot more fun for a lot less money! So, thanks Hillcrest! I will write more soon, I'm goin' to bed! Love you all! Me

Sorry about the mess up on the pictures earlier, if you saw them. I am frustrated with this blog. Every time I download pictures they come up in different places and it is a real headache to try and get everything looking right. I am confused as to how this happened. Any ideas?

Baby it's cold outside!

I will post more later, I promise! I have lots to say, can you imagine? I just had to tell you that Greg and I have had this little bet going on that winter hasn't gone away. He says it has and I say we are still in for some more flurries. Well, he came in with his tail between his legs; so to speak and said, "Miss, I guess you win the bet because there are tiny flurries falling." Heehee, I am ruthless and tiny or not, I will say , "Yep, I won!" He was very glad he took his hat to school today because his little head would have frozen off if he hadn't. I have to laugh because when I was freezing cold in Mexico nobody seemed to have any sympathy on me! So, now who is laughing? ME!! Just had to share! Love to you all!

Out of the loop!

Hi friends! I know I haven't posted in a while. Sorry. I just have been out of the loop, I guess. I was going to post pictures on Valentine's Day and say "Happy Valentine's Day" and then got busy doing other things and it simply never happened. I must say Greg's schedule this semester has been a little harder to juggle, but we are managing. It is funny how many days I long for our life in the village. We never left in our car, sometimes I didn't see him for hours at a time, but that was only because he was across the street telling Bible stories. We definitely are starting to long for a slower pace. Running here and there can wear you out! I don't know how American families keep from getting completely stressed out all the time. I really don't!

I am going to be saying Psalm 46:10 over and over.... "Be still and know that I am God...." This Psalm is so perfect for our world today. As there is still such devastation in the world it is really nice to know this was written for us long ago, knowing that we would need it today for encouragement! I have still been checking our friend's blog~ http://haitirescuecenter.wordpress.com/ it shows of the apparent devastation that is all around Haiti. I hurt for people. I don't know why I see things on tv and just cry, I really don't know, but my heart is broken for people. I don't like to see starvation, or sad, lost eyes, I don't like to see abuse, or just people who are lonely. I am by nature an encourager. That is what I do. I encourage. I love it, it makes me happy. My problem is I don't have enough time to do that to all the people in the world. So... I will do my best to every day, get up and make the lives of the people I touch seem better by some way of encouragement. Cuz.... I really do love people. Every color, every kind, every shape, every make, model, brand.. whatever...... I was made for one reason.... to love people with the love of Jesus. That is my belated "Happy Valentines!" to all of you! So, if I see you, I will try to love on you like Jesus would!! Give yourself a great big hug from me today, and know He loves you way more than me!

Psalm 46

1 God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.
2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, 3 though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging. Selah ( Selah means pause and think ~ Just thought some of you may be dumb like me! )
4 There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells. 5 God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day. 6 Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall; he lifts his voice, the earth melts. 7 The LORD Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah
8 Come and see the works of the LORD, the desolations he has brought on the earth.
9 He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth;he breaks the bow and shatters the spear, he burns the shields with fire. 10 "Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth." 11 The LORD Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah

Not such a good, good night!

Well.....there are 3 very sad boys at my house right now. My little Alex took this loss as if he was Peyton Manning. Greg looked at the bright side and said, "Well, I guess this will save us some money cause now I won't have to buy us all Superbowl Champs sweatshirts." Such an optimist, you just gotta love him! So, I am leaving my Annie's picture up, cause win or lose we are still Colts fans, but we do want to congratulate all of the Saints fans on a great win! Love you all!! Missy

Go Colts!!

Alex can't wait, and Annie does whateve Alex does!

Sanders and Addai are favorites but of course we love Manning too!!

Jerod was too busy to be included in the photo shoot, but I will try to get some of him tonight!

Greg woke up singing, "Tonight's gonna be a good, good night!" We have been invited to many football events and have declined on them all. It is all about the 5 of us sitting in our apartment watching our television by ourselves. Greg would have it NO other way! He wants to be completely focused! Our menu is Chili dogs, 5 layer bean dip with chips, and a fruit pizza. Nothing flashy but that is what they wanted! :o) So.... GO COLTS!! Love to you all! Missy

Jerod liked the soft sled. Smart boy!!

So, what I couldn't tell you on Friday was that we were going to surprise Greg at Olive Garden with a fun visit from some of our friends from Mexico. They work with us and have been with us on this M journey for the past 5 years. We have all been through a lot together and it was so nice to celebrate his birthday together. We were blessed to be able to also celebrate the reunion of Keverly and Daphca. Keverly is Daphca's sister who first took care of her at the Rescue Mission in Haiti. This was the first time they had seen eachother in many months. It was precious.

Greg's present of course was that I prayed for snow. Well... I have been praying for snow for the past few years and well.. HE is good to me. So we left OG and the snow had already started. It was wonderful to see all of our Mks excited about the snow. They have spent the past 2 days doing nothing but playing in the snow. It has been a joy. One gift I gave the kids was that I told them if Wake County schools were closed, their school could be closed too. It was fun to see them hurry home and watch the television to see if Wake County had canceled school. Fortunately for them Wake County came through for them and they have been given a snow day! So, more snow fun tomorrow! Hope wherever you are you are, you are enjoying the snow too! Love you all!! Missy
